Globalisation

We can talk about globalization in different ways, but the most important thing to remember is that each path is joined at the end. If we look at the definition of the globalization it says that :" Globalization is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture. Globalization describes the interplay across cultures of macro-social forces. These forces include religion, politics, and economics."Globalization - wikipedia

A considerable word to remember in this definition is the international integration. Nowadays, many countries are faced with a mix of cultures and this is something to consider not only in our own country but also in the schools and with our pupils. In Switzerland, teachers try to adapt their teaching as much as possible to the different cultures of the children, it's a part of the integration. An other aspect really important in the teaching is the respect of the children and their background. Indeed, teachers take into account the experiences of each pupil and its origins. However, this is not the only role of the teacher, he must also share his knowledge about the subject, but he also must be careful not to take advantage and be neutral in his arguments.

When I start by saying that each path of globalization meet at the end it is because each teacher has their own way of teaching, communicating and sharing but in the end, the point that emerges are respect for others, the past of each person, their origins and beliefs. The means to achieve these concepts are important, but to remember and understand its, it is even more important.

Below, concepts identified in what it has been said previously:

Culture: The culture is knowledge, experience, beliefs, values, attitudes, meanings, hierarchies, religion of each person. This is also the communication, the sharing of these things. Culture is also the characteristics of a group of people.

Integration: This concept means putting different cultures together. Cultures must know and understand each other to become integrated.

Background: The background is the culture that someone comes from. People come from very different  backgrounds, which is something to considerate in socialization. The communication is the best way to know and understand the background of the persons we meet.

Respect: This concept means valuing each others point of views. It means being open-minded, open to being wrong, accepting people as they are, not mistreating people because they are different to you.

  1. Fiona,
You have been successful in designing your blog. Congratulations!
--- and your introduction is very relevant!

Here is feedback to you on the theme “Globalization”
Concerning task 1 which is ..:”Reflect on this quote: Globalization can ... be define as the intensification of worldwide social relations which link distant localities in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events occurring many miles away and vice versa.' (Anthony Giddens, former director of London School of Economics).

You have described and reflected on what globalization and professional change is in genaral and especially in schools in your home country in a very intresting way.

Concerning task 2 which is ..:”Write core concepts from this challenge with definitions” which is the same as the section called ”Glossary”: “ In this section you collect 3-7 core concepts from each challenge to form your personal glossary on globalization. Write your own definition in English AND in your own language. Order the concepts thematically and/or alphabetically”

You have included your “Glossary” as a part of the theme description, just go on like this picking up words and concepts that you are introduced to, through all the sessions in this course.

    Yours
